Welcome to my first ever blog in which I hope to document my sewing journey from keen amateur to super seamstress. Along the way I hope to share some of my other interests which include unhealthy baking, fashion, reading, healthy vegetarian cooking, yoga and general good fun.
Sewing has long been on my bucket list of skills to acquire and spurred on by a recent break-up and a delightful impulse purchase ‘Tilly and the Buttons: Love at First Stitch,’ I am finally ready to get things moving. I hope to blog about the following:
- My makes
- How I incorporate my makes in to London life and my nice but corporate job
- My favourite reads
- The d word (depression)
- Baking and cooking
- Living in London on a budget
- Hairstyle and tutorials (let’s face it we can never have too many of them)
- AOB (All other manner of things that make me tick)
Before I get started does the world need another sewing blog? Probably not. Nonetheless having spent weeks ogling various blogs I’m really touched and intrigued by the creative sewing blogging community. The meetups look delightful and I am sure the support and insight of more experienced sewers will prove invaluable. Finally after taking hours out my life to create something beautiful and special why not document and shout about it from the rooftops?*
What I hope will make my blog unique and useful is that I work in the heart of the city and don’t especially care for vintage patterns or clothes. My makes will be centred around creating practical items that I can wear to work, out for coffee and take out to Brixton and Streatham’s trashiest pubs and bars.
So without further ado, let’s get started.
